| Dear Readers, Welcome to my Web site! I'm a novelist, biographer, and freelance writer. My special areas of interest include special-needs parenting, physical rehabilitation, southern living, and general disability issues. The purpose of my work is to promote knowledge and understanding of everyday living experiences as encountered by people that are disabled. I live in the United States where I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. I began writing professionally ten years ago. Currently, I have five novels published, one published short story, and a number of published magazine articles. My knowledge and experience stem from a lifetime of research, employment in rehabilitation facilities, volunteer work, involvement with family and friends that are disabled, and exposure to a variety of medical conditions through care-giving. I'm a graduate of Jacksonville University (BS Psychology) and a single mother of five children. My career experience includes working with clients in a spinal cord injury center and a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation center. In addition to an extensive home medical library, I rely on a professional group of medical experts. My greatest sources of information, however, are my friends that so generously share their lives with me. I currently reside with my children in northwest Florida. Mary King |
